What We Do

OUR PURPOSE

Guided by the belief that every life has equal value, the Prince and Tawa Woods Foundation will work to assist all people, especially young people live a healthy lifestyle. The Foundation will focus on improving people’s health, education and giving young people the chance to lift

themselves out of hunger and extreme poverty. The Foundation shall support diversity at every opportunity. The Foundation believes that equal opportunity is essential for the continuing success of our communities. Likewise, the Foundation shall include but not be limited to the following:

  1. To promote and engage in community development programs and projects that will help develop the minds and skills of community dwellers to be

 

  1. To solicit and receive contributions, purchase, own and sell real and personal property, to make contracts, to invest corporate funds, to spend corporate funds for corporate purposes, and to engage in any activity “in furtherance of, incidental to, or connected with any of the other purposes;”

 

  1. No part of the net earnings of the corporation shall inure to the benefit of, or be distributable to, its members, trustees, officers, or other persons, except that the corporation shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered to the corporation and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of the purposes set forth herein;

To act and operate exclusively as a nonprofit corporation/foundation pursuant to the laws of the State of Massachusetts, and to act and operate as a charitable organization in lessening the burdens of government, providing relief of the poor and distressed or under­ privileged, and promoting social welfare by reducing unemployment through economic development

 

To engage in any and all other lawful purposes, activities and pursuits, which are substantially similar to the foregoing and which are or may hereafter be authorized by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and are consistent with those powers described in the Massachusetts Nonprofit Corporation Act, as amended and supplemented

  1. To build capacity and sensitize young people and communities on issues, such as health, human rights,

 

  1. To engage in all sporting activities including soccer, kickball, tennis ball, basketball, golf ball and all other sports for the purpose of promoting unity, love, peace, and development through sports within the Republic of Liberia;

 

  1. To promote initiatives that will bring about self-reliant and self-sustainability through projects and programs for the young people and communities;



  1. To engage in any and all activities and pursuits, and to support or assist such other organizations, as may be reasonably related to the foregoing and following

To provide a holistic transformation of young people; offering training, empowennent and exposure to life-changing innovations

  1. To mobilize resources and establish educational opportunities especially for young people;

 

  1. To ensure that young people are safe, healthy and protected in the society;

 

  1. To facilitate the rehabilitation of traumatize and vulnerable young people;

 

  1. To support community initiatives with focuses on using sustainable technologies to enhance development;
  1. No substantial part of the activities of the corporation shall be the ·carrying on of propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, and the corporation shall not participate in or intervene in (including the publishing or distribution of statements) any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office except as authorized under the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, as amended;

     

    1. P. The foundation shall not carry on any other activities not permitted to be carried on (a) by a corporation exempt from Federal income tax under 50l(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, as amended (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue law).
